 News::Non-English manuals
A feature that's been sitting on the backburner for a few years now...

and it's still not where I'd like it to be, but we can now officially call replacementdocs an international archive.

As of today, there is a new drop-down selection that must be made when submitting docs - Region/Language. Currently we have a list of 17 countries that are likely to have video game documentation specific to their region. Additionally, you can specify if a doc is Multi-Language as many European releases are.

When you specify a region, a prefix will be attached to the document type. This prefix will be based on the country's IANA-assigned domain code (the two-letter code that identifies website domain names for a particular country). For example, a manual from Germany would have "DE Manual" as its doc type. An install guide from Spain would be "ES Install Guide". Multi-Lingual docs will use "ML1" as a prefix. Games with multiple Multi-Lingual releases will increment the prefix: "ML2", "ML3", etc. Any docs without a country code are assumed to be of United States origin.

There are some limitations, however. There is currently no way to search "only German docs" for example. There is also currently no way to know which regions/languages are contained in a Multi-Language doc. I would like to add these features eventually, though.

Note that our list of 17 regions is based on the most common game release regions. However, if you would like to upload docs from other regions we will be glad to add more regions for you.

In the past, I have requested advisors for each Non-English language that we support. While I do think that there will still be occasional need for this, the editors and myself will make our best efforts to identify and properly deal with Non-English manuals ourselves.

I think that covers everything... bring on the Non-English manuals!
